There are several government mortgage schemes that can be helpful if you're struggling to meet the minimum deposit requirement. As a first-time buyer, these could be excellent options for you:
Buy a share of your home (between 25% and 75%) and pay rent on the remaining share. You can buy more shares over time.
A government scheme offering new build homes to local first-time buyers at a discount of at least 30% off the market price.
Save up to £4,000 each year towards your first home and the government adds a 25% bonus (up to £1,000 per year).
If you're a council or housing association tenant, you may be able to buy your home at a discount based on how long you've lived there.
